Sr. Martha and Sr. Faustina (two of our lovely Springfield sisters) had an exciting, excellent Saturday this past December 8 at Giáo Xứ Thánh Tâm in Carrollton, TX for their annual TNTT Advent retreat. Twelve first and second graders learned about “Discipleship” with Sr Martha - How to be a good follower of Jesus to their family and friends. Thirty Nghĩa Sỹ and Hiệp Sỹ (TNTT teens) opened their hearts to “Making Room for Christ” by seeing how they can do acts of kindness in their lives with Sr. Faustina.
The Holy Spirit worked overtime as all the retreatants enjoyed fellowship, fun, and fruits of the Spirit - love, joy, goodness, kindness and more!
One hilarious ice breaker was putting all their shoes in one center pile. One retreatant would grab a pair of shoes and make a positive statement about the possible owner of the shoes (ie. this person must like the color red! Or this person must be an athlete). The owner of the shoes came forward and introduced himself/herself and picked out another pair of shoes. Through shoes they learned that although we are all different in many ways, we actually have a lot in common!! Thus we should all try to “put ourselves in someone else’s shoes” by listening and trying to understand.
