It is always exciting to meet young women ready to give up 4 days of their lives and "dive" into a convent! Thank you to Minh Thùy (from Florida), Bình An (from Tennessee), and Diane (from our very own great state of Texas) for opening themselves to God this past Discernment Retreat at our convent in Irving, Texas. To accompany these young women's discernment our sisters have been praying for them and will continue to pray for them!
The purpose of a Discernment Retreat is to help participants figure out God's calling, whether this is to marriage, single, or religious life. Our purpose isn't to "convince" a young person to become a nun. It is to help them to listen to God's invitation to the life God has envisioned for them - a life of joy, peace, and purpose.
Our retreat was filled with prayer (of course), food (you thought nuns didn't eat, did you?), classes (no homework, no worries), service (we are an apostolic community, not contemplative), and recreation (I hope you know nuns are one of the happiest people on earth!).
